Annual Program Allows Employees to Vote on Local Organizations to Receive Donations of Time and Money

MINNEAPOLIS – March 11, 2019 – To help support local Twin Cities nonprofits, Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) will donate $100,000 to four charities selected by its employees.

The four local organizations chosen by Allianz Life employees to receive funds are The American Cancer Society, HopeKids, The Animal Humane Society, and – new to the list this year – the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery. Each organization will receive $25,000.

“Each year, our employees have an opportunity to vote on where our corporate donations should go,” said Walter White, president and CEO, Allianz Life. “It’s a great way to make sure their voices are heard as we support the good work that so many local nonprofits do.”

Over the past 17 years, Allianz Life has given more than $1.3 million to local charities through its Employee-Elected Charities program. To be nominated as an Employee-Elected Charity, 10 or more Allianz Life employees must have volunteered with the organization during the previous year. In addition to the monetary contribution, the company’s employees will volunteer time at one event held by each charity during the year.

Every year, the company provides each employee eight hours of paid time off to volunteer for the charity of their choice. In 2018, more than 1,300 employees contributed 13,000 volunteer hours, the equivalent of over $320,000 of in-kind donations.
