Annual Driving to Donate Tournament Contributions Will Support 24/7 Helpline

MINNEAPOLIS – Aug. 25, 2014 – Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) today announced that its annual Driving to Donate Charity Golf Tournament raised more than $185,000, surpassing last year’s record total of $179,000, to the Alzheimer’s Association MN-ND. Over the past five years, Driving to Donate has raised more than $720,000 for the non-profit that provides advocacy, support services and care consultation for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

All proceeds from this year’s tournament will directly support the non-profit’s 24/7 Alzheimer’s Association Helpline, which offers personal support to individuals, family members, caregivers and professionals affected by the disease.

“Allianz Life employees are dedicated to helping combat Alzheimer’s and dementia and provide resources to those affected by this terrible disease,” said Allianz Life General Counsel Gretchen Cepek. Cepek also serves on the Alzheimer’s Association MN-ND board. “We are proud that our contributions will be used to strengthen a support system used by seniors, caregivers, friends and family.”

Driving to Donate has become a premier Minnesota event ranking among the top 25 Twin Cities’ charity golf tournaments in 2013, according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. This year, approximately 300 Allianz Life employees and vendor partners participated in the tournament, which was held at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn. Donations were raised through the golf outing, employee and vendor donations, raffle ticket sales, and an online auction. Key vendor partners that contributed were tournament presenting sponsors Accenture and Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, LLP as well as Faegre Baker Daniels, Quality Resource Group, Inc. and Tata Consultancy Services.

The Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline provides information and support to individuals dealing with memory loss, caregivers, health care professionals and the public. Beyond helping callers understand memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s, master’s level clinicians offer various other types of information including treatment options, care, legal and financial references and living-arrangement decisions.
