Allianz Life Earns ENERGY STAR Certification for Eighth Consecutive Year

Company Scores 98 out of 100; Ranks Nationally Among Top Two Percent of Similar-Sized Campuses

MINNEAPOLIS – February 27, 2017 – For the eighth consecutive year, Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) earned the prestigious ENERGY STAR certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a score of 98 out of 100 on the EPA scale. This certification ranks Allianz Life in the top two percent of similar-sized buildings in the U.S. According to the EPA, energy saved at the Allianz Life campus represents enough to power more than 500 homes and saves the company more than $735,000 annually.

Allianz Life took various steps in 2016 to improve energy-efficient operations including:

  • Updating campus equipment recommended through a recommission study completed in 2016.
  • Replacing controllers across the Minneapolis-based campus which will save an estimated $87,000 in electricity per year.

ENERGY STAR buildings on average use 35 percent less energy and release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
