MINNEAPOLIS – August 23, 2018 – As part of its annual Driving to Donate Charity Golf Tournament, Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) is proud to announce it has raised $247,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter, setting a new record since the tournament began.
In the last nine years, the tournament has raised over $1.6 million for the nonprofit. All proceeds go to the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter, including training and outreach programs as well as the Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 Helpline which supports individuals, family members, caregivers and others coping with the effects of memory loss. In addition to helping callers better understand dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, masters-level clinicians provide information about treatment, caregiving, legal support, financial resources and living arrangement options.
“The work done by the Alzheimer’s Association is critical to the many families impacted by this terrible disease,” said Walter White, president and CEO, Allianz Life. “I’m so very grateful for the volunteers, vendors and participants who came together to make a difference by donating their time and resources toward such an important cause.”
Funds were raised through vendor sponsorships, player fees, employee donations, an online auction and raffle ticket sales. Tournament contests also took place on the course during the event.
“Alzheimer's disease can be a difficult journey filled with unexpected twists and turns,” said Sue Spalding, CEO, Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter. “Our 24/7 Helpline is a lifeline for millions nationwide in need of support, resources, or just someone who understands what they’re going through. Last year, our Chapter answered nearly 6,500 calls thanks to the generosity of Allianz Life. We appreciate their continued support in providing help to the 94,000 Minnesotans living with this disease.”
Driving to Donate has become one of the top charity golf tournaments in the Twin Cities. This year, more than 300 Allianz Life employees and vendor partners participated in the August 17 event held at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn. Vendor partners included presenting sponsors Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, LLP and ThreeBridge Solutions as well as 19th hole sponsors: Dorsey & Whitney, Eversheds Sutherland LLP, Faegre Baker Daniels, PIMCO, Quality Resource Group, and Tata Consultancy Services.
