Annual Employee Holiday Giving Campaign from Allianz Life Donates to Twin Cities Charities

Gifts of food, clothing and toys aim to support those facing hardships this holiday season

MINNEAPOLIS – Dec. 21, 2020 – As part of its annual Spirit of Giving campaign, Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life) employees donated more than 25,000 pounds of food, 8,000 pounds of clothing, and 1,843 new toys to local nonprofits. In addition, employees and the company contributed $202,526 to benefit several nonprofits who are facing a difficult holiday season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We know a lot of local nonprofits are facing unique funding and operational challenges amidst increased demand this year because of the pandemic,” said Walter White, president and CEO, Allianz Life. “We’re committed to making a difference in our community, both in good times and in bad, and we hope these donations can help make the holidays a time of joy despite the hardships that so many have faced in 2020.”

The four area nonprofits that are receiving the donations are:

  • PRISM (People Responding in Social Ministry), a social service agency located in Golden Valley, Minn. that helps thousands of families and seniors in need
  • The Arc Minnesota, funds programs for people with developmental disabilities
  • Second Harvest Heartland, the Upper Midwest’s largest hunger relief organization
  • Toys for Tots, distributes toys to less fortunate children

During the campaign’s 21 years, Allianz Life employees have given more than:

  • $1,516,216 in cash donations, 
  • 415,000 pounds of food, and
  • 383,600 pounds of clothing.
