MINNEAPOLIS – Jan. 28, 2021 – The Human Rights Campaign Foundation has named Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) a 2021 “Best Place to Work” for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) employees. The company received a 100% rating on the Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the fifth consecutive year. The CEI is a national benchmarking survey that evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community.
“Allianz Life is committed to having a diverse and caring workplace culture that recognizes and celebrates all employees,” said Cecilia Stanton Adams, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Allianz Life. “We will continue to partner with our leadership, employees, and the LGBTQ community to ensure that every single employee always feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to bring their true self to work.”
One of the key ways the company builds an inclusive culture is through its Employee Resource Group, Allianz Pride, which is dedicated to supporting LGBTQ colleagues through inclusion, ally engagement, education, community involvement, and outreach. The group also networks with other companies, participates in Twin Cities LGBTQ events, and supports local and national equal rights initiatives. In addition, Allianz Life President and CEO Walter White serves as executive sponsor for the Allianz Global Pride network representing LGBTQ employees across the entire company. (Parent company Allianz SE, based in Munich, Germany, has 147,000 employees in 70 countries.)
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation administers the CEI each year. Employers that earn a perfect score on the CEI have satisfied all the criteria established for that year and are recognized as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ equality.
