Allianz Index Advantage® New York Variable Annuity Videos
Options to customize with the available index strategies
Allianz Index Advantage® New York Variable Annuity offers you the ability to combine variable options with one or multiple index strategies. Each index option is the combination of a crediting method (also called an index strategy), the index, the time period for measuring index performance (the term), and a buffer amount. To understand what makes each index strategy unique and which financial objectives they may suit, our series of explainer videos may be a good place to start.

[On-screen disclosure] This video includes information about Allianz Index Advantage® New York Variable Annuity, which is designed to help you reach your long-term financial goals by providing tax deferral, variable options, index options, and a death benefit during the accumulation phase. As with any investment vehicle registered index-linked annuities are subject to risk, including possible loss of principal. Investment returns, index credits, and principal will fluctuate with market conditions so that contract values, upon distribution, may be worth more or less than the original cost. [Narrator] Think of the last time you customized a purchase. Maybe you modified your bike for enhanced performance, tailored a jacket to a customized fit, or chose a vehicle with added features for protection to better guard you and your passengers. No matter what it is you're buying, the chance to customize as an opportunity to help meet your needs. At Allianz Life Insurance Company of New York, we believe the same goes for your retirement assets.
Wouldn't it be nice to apply a similar strategy as a part of your retirement portfolio, one that can help address market uncertainty? That's why Allianz Index Advantage® New York Variable Annuity gives you the ability to customize allocations for potential growth and a level of protection to help fit your needs, whether you're bullish or bearish on the market, whether your tolerance for risk is low, high, or somewhere in the middle, and whether your retirement is just around the corner or a ways off. For information on applicable fees and expenses, refer to the Allianz Index Advantage® New York product brochure. Along with variable options, Allianz Index Advantage® New York offers multiple innovative index options, each with unique risk/return considerations to help you address market volatility in a way that makes sense for you. So which index strategy may fit your financial objectives? First, determine what level of protection you want.
Index options include a buffer feature. A buffer can help absorb loss down to a certain point. Negative index returns that exceed the buffer will result in a negative performance credit.
[On-screen disclosure] Losses in excess of a specified buffer percentage will reduce your contract value. [End of on-screen disclosure]
[On-screen disclosure] You could experience a loss during the term if the index declines more than the level of downside protection. [End of on-screen disclosure]
[On-screen disclosure] You may not able able to participate fully in a market recovery due to a capped upside potential in subsequent terms. [End of on-screen disclosure]
Depending on the specific index option, our buffers can provide 10%, 20%, and 30% levels of protection. Next, what's your outlook on the market? Knowing this can help you choose one or more index options with the opportunity to capture upside potential. With Allianz Index Advantage® New York, if the annual index return over the term is positive, you'll receive a performance credit equal to that index return up to a limit called a cap.
[On-screen disclosure] Multi-year term Index Options can be uncapped, and if uncapped can provide a Performance Credit greater than the index return if the participation rate is more than 100%. Rates can be different to each index option. Rates can be different between newly issued and inforce contracts, and between inforce contracts issued on different days and in different years. [End of on-screen disclosure]
[On-screen disclosure] Although an index or indexes will affect your Index Option Values, the Index Options do not directly participate in any stock or equity investment and are not a direct investment in an index. [End of on-screen disclosure]
The customization doesn't end there. Allianz Index Advantage® New York offers a variety of external indexes that you can pair with the crediting methods, all with varying levels of performance potential. Each index option is the combination of accrediting method, also called an index strategy, the index buffer amount, and the time period for measuring index performance, called the term. Depending on your outlook and the index option you choose, you can select the short-term flexibility of a 1-year term or the greatest performance potential of the available index options with a multi-year term.
You can then use our manual or automatic Performance Lock feature to request a lock of the index option value, which allows you to potentially capture increases or limit losses once during the term. By executing a Performance Lock, you will no longer participate in any potential gains or losses for the rest of the term. If you lock in a loss, you will not receive the protection provided by the buffer on the term end date. However, the index option will unlock on your next index anniversary and you can reallocate at that time.
[On-screen disclosure] Executing a Performance Lock may result in you receiving less than the Performance Credit you would have received had you not locked the Index Option. It is possible to lock in a negative return. We will not provide advice or notify you regarding whether you should execute a Performance Lock, the optional time to do so, or if you execute a Performance Lock at a sub-optimal time. We are not responsible for any losses related to your decision whether or not to execute a Performance Lock. [End of on-screen disclosure]
And what's more, should your timeline, outlook, or tolerance for risk change your objectives, you also have the ability to reallocate index options for the next term. No matter your situation and goals for the future, consider making this potential solution your own. Understanding the Performance Lock feature
If you’re seeking the risk/reward balance of the Allianz Index Advantage® New York variable annuity, Performance Lock can help you gain added flexibility and a level of control in market conditions of all kinds.
Registered index-linked annuities (RILAs) provide indexed return potential with the opportunity for varying levels of protection through multiple index options available prior to receiving income, tax-deferred growth potential, a variety of lifetime annuity payout options, and a death benefit during the accumulation phase.
RILAs are subject to investment risk, including possible loss of principal. Investment returns and principal value will fluctuate with market conditions so that units, upon distribution, may be worth more or less than the original cost.
Purchasing an annuity within a retirement plan that provides tax deferral under sections of the Internal Revenue Code results in no additional tax benefit. An annuity should be used to fund a qualified plan based upon the annuity’s features other than tax deferral. All annuity features, risks, limitations, and costs should be considered prior to purchasing an annuity within a tax-qualified retirement plan.
Executing a Performance Lock may result in you receiving less than the Performance Credit you would have received had you not locked the Index Option. It is possible to lock in a negative return. We will not provide advice or notify you regarding whether you should execute a Performance Lock, the optimal time to do so, or if you execute a Performance Lock at a sub-optimal time. We are not responsible for any losses related to your decision whether or not to execute a Performance Lock.
Withdrawals will reduce the contract value and the value of any potential protection benefits. Withdrawals taken within the contract withdrawal charge schedule will be subject to a withdrawal charge. All withdrawals are subject to ordinary income tax and, if taken prior to age 59½, may be subject to a 10% federal additional tax.
