Meet Cassidy Allen, new college student and $5,000 Life Lessons Scholarship recipient

Cassidy lost her father to cancer and COVID-19 in January 2021. Though her father had life insurance, it was only enough to help her mother keep their home. There wasn’t enough for college tuition for Cassidy or her younger sister.

We’re glad we can help Cassidy afford her freshman year at St. Catherine’s University, where she’s planning to major in physical therapy – inspired by the people who helped her father during his four years with cancer.

The Life Lessons Scholarship helps reduce financial stress after the loss of a parent

We’re joining together to keep college within reach

This $5,000 Life Lessons Scholarship is awarded to young people like Cassidy who have shown character and perseverance despite their loss, based in part on an essay or video about how the death of a parent or guardian impacted their lives.

We’ve partnered with Life Happens to sponsor this $5,000 Life Lessons Scholarship as part of Life Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM) in September. Life Happens is a nonprofit organization whose mission is the help people make smart choices about life insurance so they can help protect their loved ones’ future.
