Allianz Life Grants $1.5M to Twin Cities Nonprofits to Support Financial Security for All

30 organizations received investments to help reduce barriers to economic inclusion

MINNEAPOLIS – Dec. 21, 2023 – Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life) has invested $1.5M in grants to local nonprofit organizations to increase equitable access to economic opportunities and resources.

Allianz Life provided charitable grants of $50,000 to 30 local organizations that ensure all people in the Twin Cities have access to basic needs, gainful employment, financial education, and protection from financial scams and abuses.

“At Allianz Life, we’re committed to supporting our neighbors by addressing barriers to economic inclusion, and helping secure the future of our community,” said Jasmine Jirele, president and CEO, Allianz Life. “These grants are an important way for us to give back and make a lasting impact in the Twin Cities for generations to come.”

Allianz Life supports organizations that provide basic needs to members of the community, including food, shelter and clothing, with a focus on creating stability and financial independence. The following organizations received a one-year grant focused on financial stability:

  2. Amherst H. Wilder Foundation
  3. CommonBond Communities
  4. Emma Norton Services
  5. Merrick Community Services
  6. Model Cities
  7. People Serving People
  8. Sabathani Community Center
  9. The Bridge For Youth
  10. The Food Group

Allianz Life also supports organizations that help members of the community be successful in the workforce, including through college preparedness, skills training, entrepreneurial support and access to capital investment. The following organizations received a one-year grant focused on financial sustainability:

  1. African Economic Development Solutions
  2. American Indian OIC
  3. CLUES
  4. College Possible Minnesota
  5. Hmong American Partnership
  6. Project for Pride in Living
  7. Rondo Land Trust
  8. Summit Academy OIC
  9. The Sanneh Foundation
  10. Ujamaa Place

Lastly, Allianz Life supports organizations that help ensure all community members have financial well-being, know how to prepare for their future and are protected from fraud and other financial abuse. The following organizations received a one-year grant focused on financial security:

  7. Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota
  8. Minnesota Elder Justice Center

  10. Prepare + Prosper

“With the support of Allianz, LSS Financial Counseling trained front-line workers from anti-poverty and human service agencies in the tools and knowledge they need to provide low-to-moderate income individuals and families with high quality financial capability training,” Cherrish Holland, program director of partnerships & financial education, Lutheran Social Services Minnesota. “Trainees increased their knowledge of financial wellness topics and increased their confidence in teaching financial wellness to the individuals and families they support.”

Allianz Life provides grants in the seven-county Twin Cities metro area with priority given to organizations that serve low- to moderate-income families, are led by and primarily serve people who are racially and/or ethnically diverse, have a mission rooted in equity, collaborate with other community organizations, and include some focus on the St. Paul Midway and adjacent communities.
