Allianz Life Invests $750,000 to Help Address Growing Housing and Food Insecurity in the Twin Cities

Funding supports 18 nonprofits as food demand reaches record levels and affordable housing shortages persist.

MINNEAPOLIS – Aug. 10, 2026 – As demand for food assistance continues to rise and affordable housing remains out of reach for many Minnesota families, Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life) announced its investment of $750,000 among 18 local nonprofits dedicated to helping neighbors build stable, independent lives. The investment reflects Allianz Life’s commitment to advancing financial security in the communities where its employees live and work, recognizing that stable access to food and housing is often the first step toward long-term financial independence.

Access to affordable housing and nutritious food remain critical issues for many residents in the Twin Cities. According to Minnesota Housing Partnership, there are only 41 affordable and available homes for every 100 extremely low-income renters in Minnesota. Simultaneously, demand for food assistance in Minnesota reached an all-time high for the fourth consecutive year in 2025, with 9 million visits to food shelves.

These grants, ranging from $25,000 to $50,000, support organizations that provide food, shelter, clothing and programming to help individuals and families move toward financial independence.

Funding recipients include:

“When individuals and families have reliable access to food, housing and supportive services, they are better positioned to achieve long-term financial stability,” said Kenna Poppler, director of community engagement, Allianz Life. “These investments reflect Allianz Life’s commitment to strengthening communities and helping our neighbors build brighter, more secure futures.”
